The Kansas men’s basketball team will face Indiana in Las Vegas on Nov. 12, 2027, the Hall of Fame Series event announced on Sunday afternoon.
“I just think it’s hard to pass up being part of something that’s going to be the focal point of all of the eyeballs in college basketball,” KU coach Bill Self said on Monday.
The game will take place as part of a doubleheader with an Arizona-Duke matchup, and it will occur at Allegiant Stadium, the football stadium home to the Las Vegas Raiders and UNLV, for the venue’s first-ever basketball matchups. It is also slated to host the 2028 Final Four later that season.
KU and Indiana are tied 8-8 in their all-time series after KU won both matchups of a recent home-and-home, 84-62 at Allen Fieldhouse in 2022 and 75-71 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall the following year.
The Jayhawks haven’t often played in Las Vegas over the years, though they will travel there next month for a Nov. 26 matchup with Duke as part of the Vegas Showdown event. KU has occasionally made trips to the city for the likes of the Vegas Invitational, such as in 2006, 2010 and 2011. The Jayhawks also played and won at UNLV in 2016.
The Hall of Fame Series is an early-season tournament series across a variety of cities organized by Position Sports and the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame that began play last November.
Not much else is known about the 2027-28 KU men’s basketball schedule at this early juncture. For example, as of May, the contract for KU and Missouri to play the Border Showdown was only in effect through 2026-27. If the Champions Classic continues its normal rotation, the Jayhawks will play Michigan State in 2027-28, as they do this season.
