Kansas softball suffers series loss to Texas Tech

In a hard-fought series, the Kansas softball team went 1-2 against Texas Tech this past weekend at Arrocha Ballpark.

Due to inclement weather on Friday, the two teams played a doubleheader on Saturday. Texas Tech earned a 8-4 win in the first game, while Kansas bounced back to record a 3-0 victory in the nightcap.

The Jayhawks then dropped a 5-4 decision to the Red Raiders in an eight-inning battle during Sunday’s series finale.

Kansas moved to 21-17 on the season and 2-7 in Big 12 play, while Texas Tech improved to 18-20 overall and 2-10 in conference action.

The Jayhawks finished with 12 hits and five RBIs between the two games on Saturday. Senior Brittany Jackson led the way with four hits and three RBIs, while recording her fourth home run of the season in the process.

KU scored all four runs in the third inning on Sunday, thanks to singles from Jackson, Ashlyn Anderson and Madison Hirsch.

Kansas will host Wichita State at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
