The Kansas men’s golf team placed second Sunday at the Big 12 Match Play Championship at The Clubs at Houston Oaks in Hockley, Texas.
Through a back-and-forth match, Texas Tech held off KU 4-1-1 in the championship round. This marks the second straight season that the Jayhawks have finished inside the top two at the Big 12 Match Play Championship.
The Jayhawks compiled the most team points in Pool B with 10 and went 3-0-1 going into the final round.
Luke Kluver won all five of his matchups over the course of the tournament in his debut at the Big 12 Match Play Championship. Kluver was the lone Jayhawk to win his match against the Red Raiders, defeating Kyle Hogan 3&2.
Redshirt sophomore Jeff Doty went back and forth in his final match against Texas Tech’s Garrett Martin. Doty and Martin finished tied in the match.
KU will close out its fall season at the Ka’anapali Collegiate Classic in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii, on Nov. 1-3.
