Add another blue-blood program to the list of schools KU is competing against to land Michigan big man Hunter Dickinson.
The 7-foot-1 center who generally is considered the top talent in this year’s transfer portal has added Villanova to the list of schools he will visit, according to multiple media reports. Dickinson plans to visit Villanova on Friday. He already has visited KU, Kentucky, Maryland and Georgetown.
Villanova, in addition to having recent national championship titles in 2016 and 2018, also would be a spot that would reunite Dickinson with one of his high school teammates, fifth-year senior guard Justin Moore.
Dickinson was in Lawrence last weekend, and he visited Kentucky on Tuesday, but he has not yet made any public statements about those visits.
Dickinson led Michigan in scoring and rebounding each of the last three seasons, and would go a long way in filling KU coach Bill Self’s desire to add more size to next season’s squad.
In other news from the transfer portal, Arterio Morris, a guard from Texas, is expected to announce his transfer destination on Friday afternoon, according to multiple reports.
The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 4.6 points and 1.4 rebounds in his freshman season at Texas. However, Morris was a highly touted recruit in the 2022 class, ranked as the top point guard in the nation by many outlets during the 2022 recruiting season.
Morris has listed KU and the DePaul Blue Demons as schools that he’s strongly considering.
Morris has faced off-court issues. He was charged with a Class A misdemeanor after a June 2022 altercation with an ex-girlfriend in the Dallas area, ESPN has reported. Through his attorney, Morris has said he is innocent. Morris was allowed to play this past season while awaiting a trial on the domestic violence charge.
On another front, KU is expected to host Texas Tech transfer Jaylon Tyson this weekend, according to a report from 247sports. Tyson is a 6-foot-7 wing who averaged 10.7 points a game and made more than 40% of his 3-point attempts for the Red Raiders last season.
